A strategic roadmap for
The Literary Consultancy

A social business with charitable roots, this UK-wide service organisation came to me seeking a few strategic shifts:

  • Reduce reliance on grants through a more resilient funding model

  • Clarify direction with a bespoke Theory of Change

  • Increase relevance and support for a more diverse demographic of writers

  • Make service delivery more targeted through a more nuanced understanding of service users’ needs and brand perception

Our work brought together the staff, board, and a cross-section of service users to distil the current value proposition and future opportunities facing the organisation. I designed a user consultation and engagement session, powered by Miro and three facilitators, that shone a light on where TLC had been most successful and where its services could pivot to meet emerging need.

Our findings built the foundation for the Director’s new business plan. In the years since, TLC has gone from strength to strength.

“Working with Diana was so helpful, and her bespoke advice enabled us to articulate a comms strategy for the writers we work with. We’re a small team, so having some objective, outside support was so valuable. Diana gave us a tailored framework we could use to analyse our strengths and opportunities, and helped us get a better understanding of our audience.”
